Burlap Roses

Burlap roses are the “in thing” for weddings these days, so my niece, sister, and I spent some time on You Tube, and we taught ourselves how to make them using this tutorial.

We made two different types, one using traditional burlap:

And the other using a 5″ wide burlap ribbon with hemmed edges.

The more traditional type was easier, and gave a smaller, more ragged flower.

The wide, finished ribbon took a little fiddling, but produced a large, cabbage-type rose with soft, romantic edges.  They’re the size of a salad plate!

We couldn’t decide which type we preferred, so we’ll use both for pew bows and other church decor.  It’s going to be a beautiful wedding!
